Peighton Thames of Canton, Georgia, who was a pitcher for North Ga Twisters has sadly died. She died on November 10, 2024. When South Cherokee Softball learned of the demise of Peighton Thames, a member of the softball community who played for the North Ga Twisters, the organization was in utter disbelief. Peighton was a shining example of brightness in the world of softball, and she will be sorely missed by those who knew her.
It is not a coincidence that during the two seasons that Peighton Thames was at Twin Creeks, they were able to succeed in winning the championship in both of those seasons. In addition to being one of the best players her team ever had the privilege of coaching, she was also a model of what it meant to be a leader and a member of a team. If she made contact with that ball with the bat, there was no doubt that it would travel a considerable distance. Because she was also cherished by each and every one of her teammates, this is a challenging period for a great number of people.
In order to provide assistance to the family throughout these subsequent steps, the South Cherokee Softball board has planned a fundraiser in which shirts commemorating the lovely #10 will be sold. Shirts can be pre-ordered using the URL provided below, and to make payments, the Venmo link can be found on the flier. To ensure that your phone number is included on the link for pick-up arrangements, please make sure to add it. To assist the Thames family at this difficult time, all of the earnings from the sale of each shirt, which costs $25, will be donated to them.
In spite of the fact that she didn’t require much teaching, it was a delight to get to know her, Peighton, and to have the opportunity to have other team mates play with her. So many hearts are breaking because she was taken away from so many such a short time ago, and it is a terrible thing.
Regardless of where she is right now, her loved ones have no doubt that she is stealing bases, making the most well-timed mound visits with your pitcher, and hitting absolute bombs over the fence. There are going to be a lot of people that miss you. Really, you were incredible. Her funeral arrangements and obituary will be announced by her family at later date.
I did not know her super well, but she was a OUTSTANDING softball player. My team when we competed in tournments, we always noticed her skills behind the plate. Our interactions were always short, but she always was kind. She derserves one more time on the field, one more hit, one more trip around the bases. She will be missed and the softball commuinty is devasted. I pray her family healing process gets better as they go through this life changing time.
