After receiving tickets as a surprise from his injured mother, an Oklahoma teenager lost his life in a terrible car accident while travelling to a Kansas City Chiefs game.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, Connor Barba, 18, of Norman, and his mother, Megan Barnett, 41, were travelling to the game on Saturday when they were struck head-on by a Camaro. Joseph Savage, 45, of Mortuary, veered into the oncoming traffic lane for a “unknown reason” at approximately 4 p.m. and collided with the mother-son pair.
According to a GoFundMe that has generated almost $95,000, Barnett surprised her son with tickets for his upcoming birthday, and the two were their route to a Kansas City Chiefs game.
Barnett is in the intensive care unit in Tulsa and will need ‘substantial recovery,’ the fundraiser said. Her health is stable right now. At the scene, Barba and Savage were both declared dead. Police said a third driver involved was unharmed.
